Practical perspectives

Ask better channel questions

Consider the work behind an online and offline channel mix.

01

Begin with buying behaviour

Describe who the product serves, how buyers discover it and what helps them make a decision. A channel should have a defined role in that journey.

02

Look beyond a platform name

Discuss assortment, content, pricing, stock, fulfilment and customer support. Clarify who owns each task and what information a prospective partner needs.

03

Make a pilot measurable

Agree the purpose, duration, budget boundaries and available measures. Initial feedback can inform a decision, but it should not be presented as proof of long-term demand.

04

Document the decision

Record assumptions, unresolved issues and responsibilities. Confirm commercial terms and a scoped operating plan before making a rollout commitment.
